Plainfield is a town in Hendricks County, Indiana, with a population around 30,000. Plainfield is situated in the Central Till Plains section of the United States. There are some moderately sized hills and a mix of deciduous forests and prairie land. White Lick Creek, a branch of the White River, flows through the western side of town and, on the eastern end, you will find Clark's Creek, an offshoot of White Lick Creek. The weather is seasonal which means hot summers and cool autumns followed by cold winters. But, then spring rolls in and everything comes back alive!
If you are looking for some retail therapy, check out The Shops at Perry Crossing. The 600,000-square-foot outdoor retail shopping mall opened in October 2005. It is a great way to spend a warm day but be sure to bring your big coat if you head there in the winter. It is all alfresco. Speaking of alfresco, The Plainfield Recreation and Aquatic Center is located on Plainfield's west side and houses three basketball courts, an indoor walk/run track, a fitness center and an indoor play area for children are all features of the center but the most striking feature at the Plainfield Recreation Aquatic Center is the 3.1 acre Splash Island Family Waterpark. It includes:

Outdoorsy people will love Plainfield in the spring and summer. Plainfield's trail system includes over 20 miles (32 km) of pathways which connect the town's numerous parks and recreational centers. The Vandalia Trail runs) through the center of town. It will eventually become part of the National Road Heritage Trail - which will ultimately extend 150 miles from Terre Haute to Richmond, Indiana.
